It is very important to understand the benefits that the dependency law can provide for older people, but also for people who, despite being young, need additional resources or certain care to facilitate their routine.
Who can request aid from the dependency law?
Dependency aid can be requested by anyone who notices a decrease in their abilities, or has difficulties when carrying out daily tasks. It is also possible to request a review of the degree of dependency already assigned, and communicate new changes.
Likewise, those in charge of the dependent person, such as a family member or legal representative, may do so. If these figures are not available, the public administration will take charge of the situation.
To facilitate the process and all the documentation that you must provide,We have prepared a summary scheme to understand how many degrees of dependency there are, and when you can request a review of the degree of dependency.

What type of benefits can I receive?
People who have requested dependency aid in 2023 have various options. These can be both monetary benefits and home services, as well as in public, private or subsidized centers.
Can caregivers receive help? Yes, there is also the possibility that the person in charge receives a deduction for caring for dependent persons (We tell you more about this help in our downloadable guide).
The benefits will always go hand in hand with the degrees of dependency, which will be assessed by the competent authorities of each autonomous community.

Is dependency aid the same in Andalusia, Catalonia or Madrid?
Although it may seem a little strange for applicants, the aid that a dependent person can receive varies depending on the Autonomous Community where they reside. This is because the State establishes minimums for all Spanish citizens, but the administrations are the ones that can complement these benefits and enrich them with a larger budget.
In this way, we may find that degree 3 dependency receives benefits in Catalonia that are different from dependency aid in Andalusia, for example.
You must also take this into account if the dependent person changes residence and moves to another autonomous community.
Regardless of the autonomous community in which you reside, you can find the body in charge of processing dependency aid in our downloadable guide.
